Kurt W. Grimsrud passed away unexpectedly at his home in Miles City, Mont., on Feb. 7, 2024. Kurt was born in Wolf Point, Mont., to Larry E. Grimsrud and Sharon L. Sugden Grimsrud on March 5, 1968. He was the sixth of seven children. Kurt spent his early years growing up on the farm north of Wolf Point with his family. The family then moved to the river bottom west of Wolf Point to the log house his father built. In 1982 Kurt, his younger sister Shay and his parents moved to Haxby, Mont. Kurt attended Cat Creek country school for two years and then resided in a dormitory in Jordan while attending high school. He worked on ranches in the Jordan area where he made lifelong friends. His first job outside of ranching was in the state of Washington working for a painting and sandblasting company where he learned his trade and did very well. While there, he met Cari Keesecker and they had a son named Dalton. Kurt went on to work all over the country as far north as Alaska and as far south as Panama. Kurt continued this work and excelled at his trade with Ostrom Paint and Sandblasting company in Illinois where he worked up and down the Mississippi River working on dams and levees. Kurt met and married Alison in Lacrosse, Wis., and they had a daughter, Ruby, who was named after his grandmother. Kurt made his way back to Billings, Mont. While there, he and Kristen built the business Paint All Inc. They had two children, Cooper and Ivy. His four children were the loves of his life. His last years were spent in Miles City working for Transco Railroad refinishing tanker cars for the railroad.

Leslie Martin Hawk (Cidá Wicá, Hawkman), 24, of Wolf Point died Jan. 27, 2024. He was born in Wolf Point on Nov. 21, 1999, to David J. Hawk and Sonia Martell. His brothers were David Hawk, Jr., John Henry Hawk and one older brother. His sisters were Cheyenne Autumn Hawk, Mewissa Rivas Beale, Davetta Jo Hawk Crittenden and Deann Jeanette Hawk. He made it between 10th and 11th grade. He then got his GED and also did one semester of college. During his time in school, he enjoyed playing football and wrestling. He had many fond moments of these times. When he spent time in California going to school, he got to go to a Lakers game and loved that. His occupations were not many. He was a bagger at Albertsons, worked at Stoney Paths and helped out at the Wolf Point Liquor Market. He traveled with his friend Neal and family to Arizona, which was a very interesting trip and he got to see the Grand Canyon. He enjoyed having friends come over to jam out while smoking, having

Judith Greybear, 66, of Poplar died Jan. 29, 2024. She was born April 3, 1957, to Lottie E. Old Rock Grey-Bear and Wilferd Brien in Culbertson. She went to school in Poplar and graduated in 1976. After graduating, she found work at various jobs. She worked for the Fort Peck Tribes for over 40 years in different departments. She met Russell Dean Necklace in 1979. From this union, they were known as “Judy& Dean”, common law. They had three girls, LoriJo Lynn, D’Anna Faith and Krissandra Rose; and five grandchildren. She loved to cruise, which everyone dubbed her “Booze Cruise”, stopping to visit her many friends. When not cruising, she liked to go play machines or be at home playing Yahtzee or card games. She wouldn’t quit until she won. Then, friends and family would come visit. She was full of life, fun loving and there was never a dull moment with her. She was always laughing, and the friends she met would say
