Roosevelt County residents have made a habit of spending more than $10,000 daily on cannabis for most of 2023. During the month of April, the Department of Revenue reports that $325,784 was taken in for cannabis sales in Roosevelt County. The amount includes $232,467 in “adult-use sales” and $93,316 in medical sales. The $325,784 translates to $10,859 being spent daily in the county.

A Wolf Point woman suspected in the death of a child on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation admitted to a murder charge on Wednesday, May 31, U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said. Heather Dawn Smith, aka Heather Dawn Yellow Owl, 32, appeared for arraignment on a superseding information charging her with second degree murder and pleaded guilty to the crime. David Dean Winn is facing one felony charge and other offenses from a chase that occurred in Roosevelt County on May 21. The felony charge is for criminal endangerment. He is scheduled to make his initial appearance in district court on Wednesday, June 14. Bail was set at $100,000. If convicted of the felony offense, Winn faces a maximum sentence of 10 years, a $50,000 fine or both.
