Five Circle Wrestlers Place At State


By Darla Downs Krayle Stormer defeated Miguel Ramos of Fairfield, 8-6, to take first place in the 113-pound weight class. Cole Becker, wrestling at 145, defeated Dallen Hoover, of Whitehall, 6-5, to take first place. At 138, Canyon Casterline took third; Tugg Taylor, at 120, took fourth; and Bryson Bartelson, 120, took sixth.

Delton Brown

Delton Brown


Delton Wade “Duk” Brown, 45, died Feb. 14, 2020. He was born to Robert Brown Sr. and Juanita Youngman Jan. 27, 1975. He attended school in Poplar until he was in the 12th grade when he dropped out. He later attended Kicking Horse Job Corps and received his GED. After he came back from Job Corps, he met his wife of 19 years, Veronica Castro, and had two children. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always laughing and joking around with everyone. He liked being creative and fixing up things to get as he would say “more use out of it and bring it back to life.” He was always willing to give a helping hand whenever somebody needed. He has a big family and loved everyone even if he didn’t say it much. He was preceded in death by his sister, Leona Brown; and brother, Robert Brown Jr. He is survived by his children, Renee and Duran “Bean” Brown; his parents, Juanita and Doug (stepdad) Youngman; his sister, Robyn Brown; and three grandchildren. A wake will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Poplar Cultural Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at Riverside Presbyterian Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.

Darlene Davis

Darlene Davis


Darlene (Huso) Davis, 76, died Feb. 15, 2020, at Northeast Montana Health Services in Wolf Point. She was born March 24, 1943, the first child of Kenneth and Thelma (Gidley) Huso. She graduated Wolf Point High School in 1961. As a child, she was her dad and uncle Clarence’s sidekick, checking the cows on the family farm, summer fallowing or just about anything to stay out of the house. Her mother used to tell how Darlene loved to cook but, when it came time to clean up, she could be found outside. She met and married Calvin Davis. Together, they had 42 wonderful years. They were busy years. Irrigating, farming and raising their two boys filled her time. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; and son, Jim. She is survived by her son, Kenneth; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Sharon Toavs. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
