The Montana Department of Commerce announced today that the application period for the Economic Impact and Destination Event Grant Program is now open. This State-funded grant program helps Montana communities with new and destination events to increase tourism by regional, national and international visitors, to promote Montana’s unique attributes and to generate additional community revenue.

Roosevelt County has dropped into a tie for 49th place for Montana counties as far as unemployment rate. The county now has an unemployment rate of 4.4 percent which is tied with Blaine County. Roosevelt County commissioners unanimously approved the hiring of Erika Fyfe as a temporary employee to the clerk of court office during a meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The position will run through Dec. 31 when a new clerk of court/ superintendent of schools takes over duties. Fyfe is the only candidate on the ballot for the positions. The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 101 calls from Aug. 19-25. The calls included the following: Aug. 19 Deputies responded to Poplar’s city limits for a report of a stolen purse.
