Crowds Gather For District 2C Tournament


Basketball fans from throughout the area had a busy week supporting their area high school basketball teams during the District 2C tournament held in Sidney on Feb. 6-10. Area teams fared well as Culbertson’s boys, Bainville’s girls and Froid/Lake’s boys each qualified for the divisional tournament. Culbertson placed second in the boys’ tournament and Bainville earned second place

Bainville High School student Kaelyn Romo recently was honored as a queen as she continues to enjoy her senior year at the school. Romo was crowned queen at the school’s Winterfest activities earlier this month. As vice president of the school’s student council, Romo was involved with the planning of the week’s fun activities. Froid Council Members Discuss Fire Hall Addition


The Froid Town Council held its regular meeting Monday, Feb. 19, rescheduled from Feb. 12. Prior to the meeting, a public hearing was held seeking comment on a House Bill 355 project priority list. Following discussion, a list was created beginning with roof repairs to the town building. The list also includes street repairs and may include repairs to the sewer system. Public works director

Bleicher Files For County Attorney Spot


Roosevelt County deputy county attorney Thomas Bleicher has filed in the 2024 election to determine the county’s attorney. Bleicher has served as deputy attorney since Jan. 3, 2023. He has remained in the office despite challenging times for the county including the removal of former county attorney Frank Piocos and the county’s court battles with former county attorney Janet Christoffersen.
