The Roosevelt County Commissioners met with the compensation board to discuss salaries of elected officials for fiscal year 2024-2025 on Wednesday, June 5. Commissioner Gordon Oelkers explained the compensation board recommends to commissioners what board members wish to do. Commissioners then take a straw vote at the meeting before making a final decision during a regular commissioners’ meeting.

The Roosevelt County Commissioners approved two bids for gravel during a meeting last week. Bishop Inc. of Malta was awarded both bids. One of the bids was for 13,500 tons of three-quarter inch minus gravel to be stockpiled at the Colgan Pit, located six miles north of Poplar. Delivery is to be completed by Oct. 15. Bid for the Colgan Pit gravel is $89,250. The other bid was for 26,000

A 50-year-old man from Reserve was a fatality victim in a two-vehicle crash in Glacier County east of Browning on Sunday, June 9. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the man was driving a motorcycle and had a 51-year-old passenger, also from Reserve. The motorcycle and a Pontiac Grand Prix were eastbound when the motorcyclist slowed down and pulled to the right side of the road to perform
