Bulldogs Lose Contest At Tournament
Ekalaka broke open a close game in the fourth quarter to down Bainville’s boys, 51-32, at the Eastern C divisional basketball tournament in Miles City on Wednesday, March 4.
Bainville trailed by only a 38-30 margin at the end of the third quarter, but Ekalaka accounted for the first 10 points of the final period.
Ekalaka jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening quarter. The scoring of Kaiden Holmes and Parker Berwick helped Bainville cut the gap to 15-10 at the end of the period.
Two straight hoops by Berwick closed the margin to 22-19 with 1:42 left in the half. Ekalaka held a 26-21 half-time advantage.
After Berwick scored to open the third quarter, Ekalaka tallied the next seven points for a 33-23 lead during third-quarter action.
Berwick led Bainville with 23 points. Also scoring were Holmes with four and Rowan Wilson with three points.
Bainville’s boys’ basketball team fell against Terry, 45-39, during loser-out action at the Eastern C divisional tournament in Miles City on Thursday, March 5.
The Bulldogs led 8-4 at the end of the first quarter, but Terry gained a 21-12 half-time advantage.
Terry held a 31-24 lead after three quarters of play.
The Bulldogs fought back to 37-32 when Rowan Wilson hit a three-pointer with 2:46 remaining.
After a three-pointer by Terry, Bainville’s Parker Berwick accounted for four straight points to cut the gap to 40-36 with 55 seconds left.
The Terriers made two free throws, but a three-pointer by Wilson kept the Bulldogs alive at 42-39 with 36 seconds remaining.
Terry’s Ethan Meidinger hit three free throws down the stretch to hold off the Bulldogs.
