This Winter Could Be Colder

As far as weather in northeastern Montana this winter, the National Weather Service anticipates elevated probabilities for wetter and cooler than normal conditions for December through February.

A report from the service notes that there’s a higher likelihood of below normal temps and above normal precipitation for the entire threemonth period. There will be fluctuations between warm/ dry and cool/wet conditions.

The weather service reports that the outlook doesn’t mean that it will be wetter and cooler than normal, there will not be any warm and dry spells, it will be cool and wet for the entire duration of winter or that the entire forecast area will be impacted equally by cool and wet conditions.

Nick Vertz, warning coordination meteorologist, said during a news briefing that the northeast and southeast corners of the state experienced warmer conditions than normal from Sept. 28 to Oct. 27. Those areas had temperatures 6-8 degrees higher than normal.

For Nov. 4-10, residents can expect above normal temperatures and above normal chances of precipitation.
