Hannum Receives Superintendent Honor

Bainville Superintendent of Schools Darin Hannum has been selected the North East Region Superintendent of the Year. The announcement came during the fall administrators conference held in Helena.

“Our region was very kind to me,” Hannum said.

The award is for all school sizes. Montana consists of eight regions. One of the regional winners will be selected as the state recipient later this month.

“I was fortunate this year,” Hannum said.

He added that a positive relationship with other superintendents was part of the reason that he was honored.

“It’s really good for Bainville,” Hannum said of the award. “It shows what we are doing around here.”

Hannum has served as Bainville’s superintendent since the fall of 2021.

“We’re having a very good year,” Hannum noted. “We’re lucky to have good people and good kids.”

His education includes earning his bachelors degree from MSU Billings and his masters degree through the University of Phoenix. He then earned his superintendent’s endorsement from the University of Montana.

After being a math teacher for nine years, he served as a principal in Box Elder and then as superintendent in Box Elder. He was superintendent in Chinook for six years.
