Woman Faces Drug Related Charges
Jamie Rose Hoyt of Williston, N.D., is facing the felony charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs and the misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia in Roosevelt County.
According to court documents, deputies investigated a complaint in Culbertson regarding two individuals staying in someone else’s trailer without permission. Later in the day, the two individuals were found at the residence by the deputies.
Hoyt and a male initially claimed they had permission to be on the property, but eventually admitted they had no legal right to be there. The property owner requested deputies to search the trailer to make sure there was nothing illegal in it. During the search, a deputy observed a used methamphetamine pipe in plain view on top of the bed and a used, loaded syringe in plain view in an ashtray on top of a wire shelf.
Both Hoyt and the male denied any knowledge of the drug paraphernalia. They were both placed under arrest for possession. A deputy then found a small, polka-dotted zipper case in her front left pocket. Later, Hoyt admitted that the syringe belonged to her and contained methamphetamine. Because she claimed ownership of the illegal items, the male was released from custody. Hoyt was transported to the Roosevelt County jail.
The suspected methamphetamine inside the polka- dotted case weighed approximately 4.7 grams and was sent to the state crime lab for analysis.
