Roosevelt County 4-H members participated in their first 4-H stir-ups food contest. This contest challenges 4-H members to be creative in their cooking skills. They are given a set of 10 ingredients and they can bring three mystery ingredients to create a recipe. The theme os this year was “pizza.” The contest is relatively new and loosely based on the cooking show “Chopped!” Members got one hour to create their masterpiece and then had to present it. They made their own dough from scratch as well. There was everything from taco pizza to stuffed crust pizza to pineapple pizza. They were judged on simplicity, appeal, effective work habits, nutrition and oral presentation. All the pizza were shared to taste test each other’s recipes.
