Culbertson Celebrates Graduation Culbertson Celebrates Graduation

The graduation ceremony for Culbertson High School put 15 students in the spotlight on Saturday, May 17.

Graduates included Dawson Bergum, Patrick Bowlby, Angel Burciaga, Henry Colvin, Gavin Deen, Tyler Friede, Jazzmin Fugere, Justin Giron, Mark Kirkaldie, Josue Mena, Reese Moon, Trever Priddy-Powell, Colin Purvis, Bridger Salvevold and Serenity Wilbanks.

Fugere, valedictorian of the class, said the high school years went by like a blink of the eye. Being a small class, it was noticeable whenever someone was missing. “They all kept me on my toes,” said Fugere, who was one of only two girls in the class.

She said although it wasn’t the most polite class, she was grateful to all her classmates. She added that the memories will last a lifetime.

Henry Colvin, salutatorian of the class, discussed the importance of trusting yourself and sticking to your values. He said there’s no roadmap to make plans for the rest of their lives.

“What matters is believing that you matter,” Colvin said.

Guest speaker Elizabeth Standley, a teacher with the students for two years, said the students were smart and they were also good at looking smart when they didn’t have a clue what was going on.

Standley said even when the students faced chaos, they would work together, laugh and make it work.

She encouraged students to take life one step at a time. She said looking smart ends up being wise as confidence grows. She told the graduates to ask questions and to try new things.

Eighth-grade graduates for Culbertson were Harper Anderson, Reagan Chilson, Thomas Clark, Adam Ellerkamp, Noah Fox, Emma Henry, Jayden Jones, Xavier Lapp, Hunter Lee, Kai Newbill, Serenity Rogalla, Izack Rumsey, Lauren Rumsey, Aubry Salvevold, Tyler Schmidt, Caleb Semm, Ally Simonsen, Cord Snyder, Anna Steppler, Audrey Anna Swallers, Tyler White Cloud, Charity Wilbanks and Sander Williams.
