Culbertson Council Votes No On Chickens
The Culbertson Town Council held its regular meeting May 12.
The council discussed the possibility of an ordinance allowing chickens within town limits. Council members reported feedback from town residents opposed to the move. Mary Drake and Kailey and Brandon Bigler spoke in favor of the ordinance, with Brandon Bigler volunteering to serve in an enforcement role to mitigate the burden on area law enforcement. A motion was raised to retain the current ordinance language, as-is, banning chickens. The motion passed unanimously.
A town clean up day has been set for May 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the fairgrounds’ parking area. Any residents interested in having items removed from their property are encouraged to leave junk curbside for pickup.
Volunteers will also be available to help residents if additional hands are needed. Call the town at 406-787-5271 for more information.
The council approved site sketch plans for two privacy fences and approved special permits for Frontier Days.
