The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 61 cases from Jan. 2-7. Jan. 2 Deputies received a complaint from a Wolf Point woman regarding a protection order violation. She said she was being harassed on social media. The deputies took the complaint. Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police after receiving information of a suicide threat at the river. Law enforcement didn’t locate

Red Hawks Stop Bainville, 40-32

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks overcame a strong first quarter by Bainville and were able to edge the Bulldogs, 40-32, in a defensive battle on Saturday, Jan. 6. The Bulldogs earned a 17-3 lead in the first quarter as a triangle-and-two defense frustrated the Red Hawks throughout the period. The scoring of Charles Butikofer led the Bulldogs to a 6-2 lead and then Alex Strickland connected on a three-pointer.

Lustre experienced its first defeat of the girls’ basketball season at Circle by a 52-46 final on Saturday, Jan. 6. Circle took a 10-4 lead in the first quarter and held a 23-15 half-time advantage. The Wildcats increased their advantage to 42-31 in the third quarter, but the period ended with Lustre’s eighth-grader Kencia Brown firing in a three-quarters of a court shot at the buzzer.
