When it comes to the agriculture field, senior Tally Berwick is a bit of an expert at Bainville High School.

Berwick has been a member of Bainville’s FFA chapter since she was in the seventh grade. Highlights have included being a member of the chapter’s parliamentary procedure team that qualified for the national conference last year.

“It was a really cool trip,” Berwick said.

Her other favorite event is veterinary science. Her goal is to place in the top 10 at the state meet in that category this school year.

“It teaches you a lot of life skills,” Berwick of benefits being involved in FFA. She gives the example how parliamentary procedure taught her how to run a meeting. “It’s also nice to meet people in different towns.”

As a member of Bainville’s Business Professionals of America program, Berwick placed third at state in parliamentary procedure and qualified for the national conference last year.

During the summer months, Berwick is busy getting her animals ready for the Roosevelt County Fair. Her plan is to show pigs, a steer, sheep and goats at the next fair. Her honors have included earning the all-around round robin showmanship title and placing second at the Champion of Champions event held in Circle in 2023.

“Pigs are my favorite to show,” the senior said.

The National Honor Society member uses her ability to succeed in both high school basketball and rodeo.

She is a returning starter for Bainville’s girls’ basketball team. She said a long-range goal is bringing home a team trophy from the divisional tournament this season.

“We kind of like to take it one game at a time,” Berwick said.

As far as individual goals for the season, Berwick noted, “Just to be a good leader as a senior and be a good teammate. I want to help us come together to win those games.”

When asked if being a good teammate means always being nice to her eighth-grade sister on the team, Tally joked, “No promises.”

In high school rodeo, Berwick has qualified for state each year. As an eighth-grader, she advanced to the national junior high school rodeo for shooting sports.

She says goat tying is her favorite rodeo event. She has earned allaround cowgirl honors at the Go Getters’ rodeo.

As far as her favorite class in school, Berwick said, “Honestly, my answer is pretty much any ag class.”

Her favorite teacher is Kellen Standley. “We get along well and agree on most things,” she said.

After high school, Berwick plans to attend Northwest College in Powell, Wyo. She will major in farm and ranch management.
