Frontier Days Rodeo Wraps Up


The 60th Frontier Days Rodeo at the Culbertson Saddle Club is in the books. The weather cooperated and attendance was high both nights. Attendees were treated to the regular bull riding, bareback, calf roping, etc., with the addition of a women’s bronc riding event. Wild Calf races were held both nights. Timilyn Vonnette Russell, 59, died May 18, 2023, in Puyallup, Wash. She was born on Oct. 12, 1963, to Lucille “Ella” Russell and Stanley “Allen” Lester in Poplar, where she also grew up. In her younger years, she had many small odd jobs. In her early 20s, she met Marvin BullChief Sr. From this union, she had five children, Renae, Marvin III “Jason”, Kyleen, Bradley and Quentin BullChief. They resided in both Frazer and Wolf Point for a number of years together, but later parted ways. Then in the early ‘90s, she moved to Okanogan, Wash., with her aunt Jana Cloke-Moore and later moved to Omak, Wash. She met her companion, Bill Marr. She enjoyed listening to

Reginald Dale Scott, 63, died June 3, 2023, in Poplar. He was the oldest of 10 children. He went to school in Poplar and Brockton, then later graduated from Brockton in 1979 as the salutatorian. He also graduated from the Fort Peck Community College with a degree in general studies. He had many jobs in his life including working at A& S Industries, West Electronics and Poplar schools. But the job he loved the most was being a dad and grandpa. He met Pauline Red Star and was blessed with six daughters, Tyra, Sheila, Marian, April, Nancy and Tricia.
