Wolves Prepare For Season Opener With Scrimmage

The Wolf Point football team tuned up for the regular season with the maroon and white scrimmage on Thursday, Aug. 25. “I was pleased with the overall effort and how they came out to play,” Wolf Point coach Anthony Red Cloud said after the scrimmage. He noted there were many good plays both offensively and defensively. The Wolves will open their season at Baker on Friday, Sept. 2.

Man Faces 22 Counts Of Cruelty To Animals

Alfred Charles Heupel of Culbertson is facing 22 counts of cruelty to animals. He made his initial appearance in Justice Court on Wednesday, Aug. 24. Each of the 22 counts are misdemeanors and allegedly occurred on July 8 or sometime before when the defendant allegedly failed to provide the following animals with food and water of sufficient quantity and quality to sustain normal health.

Red Hawks Come Back For 49-48 Victory To Start Season

It was a growing time for the Froid/Lake Red Hawks. Entering the season without a great deal of quality playing time experience, the Red Hawks fell behind 20-0 but showed the character of champions by scoring a 49-48 home victory over Custer/ Hysham/Melstone on Saturday, Aug. 28. The Red Hawks were able to grab a 42-40 advantage when Mason Dethman connected with Landen Kelm on a 31-yard touchdown
