Red Hawks Stay Perfect For Season

In a battle of District 2C boys’ basketball powerhouses, Froid/Lake emerged with a 51-37 victory in Fairview on Saturday, Jan. 8.

The Red Hawks led by only an 8-5 margin after the first quarter but were able to increase the gap to 22-14 at the half.

The Red Hawks then struck for 18 points in the third quarter to earn a 40-25 cushion.

Mason Dethman and Javonne Nesbit led the attack for Froid/Lake with 17 points each.

Connor Huft added six points. Also scoring were Patton Bighorn with five, Tyler Wivholm with three, Brett Stentoft with two and Nate Stentoft with one.

Leading Fairview were Hunter Sharbono with 15 and Kanyon Taylor with 13 points. Also scoring were Jeff Tjelde with seven and Landen Thompson with two points.

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks earned a 52-43 conference boys’ basketball victory over Plentywood on Friday, Jan. 7.

Froid/Lake controlled the action in the first half as the Red Hawks gained a 19-7 lead during the first quarter. Froid/Lake increased the margin to 32-15 in the second period. The Red Hawks enjoyed a 47-26 advantage after three quarters of play.

Reaching double figures for Froid/Lake were Mason Dethman with 13 and Tyler Wivholm with 12 points.

Also scoring were Javonne Nesbit with nine, Brett Stentoft with eight, Austen Hobbs with eight and Connor Huft with two.

Top scorers for Plentywood were Easton Tommerup with 11 and Conner Howard with 10 points. Cayden Trupe and Reese Wirtz added nine points each for the Wildcats.

The Red Hawks will take on Bainville in Froid on Thursday, Jan. 13. Froid/Lake will then host the Richey/ Lambert Fusion on Saturday, Jan. 15.
