Golfers Qualify For State
Wolf Point’s Gaige Bushman and Poplar’s Landon Young each qualified for the Class B state golf tournament by placing in the top 15 at the divisional tournament held in Shelby on Tuesday, May 9.
Young shot an 87 to earn ninth place.
Bushman qualified by shooting a 93 to tie for 12th place at the meet.
Glasgow’s Riley Smith was the meet’s medalist with a 77. Glasgow’s Keigan Ingram and Cut Bank’s Shane Barcus each shot 81s.
Other scores for Wolf Point’s boys were Trevin Boysun with an 105 for 27th place and Logan Bushman with an 116 for 41st place.
Poplar’s scores were Lucas Young with an 104 for 25th place, Kaniel Ricker with an 111 for 34th place, Preston Ogle with an 111 for 34th place and Quinn Sutherland with an 116 for 41st place.
Shelby’s Jori Clary shot an 87 to earn medalist honors in the girls’ division. Shelby’s Delaney Clark placed second with a 90 and Conrad’s Julia Salois took third with a 94.
The state meet is May 16-17 in Shelby.
