Cowgirls Battle At Scobey Tourney

The Culbertson Cowgirls competed well at the Scobey Invitational volleyball tournament held on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The tournament featured 14 teams with only the top four teams of each pool qualifying for the single-elimination tournament. Culbertson qualified for the tournament but lost to Jordan in the opening round.

“We had five girls out this week with different sicknesses. They were tired and still not 100 percent, but they really battled and never gave up,” Culbertson Coach Tiffany Nielsen said.

Makena Hauge accounted for 35 kills, 10 blocks and 34 digs in the tournament.

Destiny Thompson finished with 16 kills and eight aces. Koree Marchwick had seven aces and 19 assists. Kenadee Kempton had 16 assists.

Perla Burciaga had 34 digs and Alicyn Ator added 31 digs.

The Cowgirls will travel to Bainville on Thursday, Sept. 16, and host MonDak on Saturday, Sept. 18.
