In a battle of two of the top six-man football squads in the state, Froid/Lake displayed too much firepower for Power/Dutton/Brady in a 58-22 home victory on Saturday, Sept. 11.

After the top-ranked Red Hawks’ defense stopped two of Power/Dutton/Brady’s drives early, the offense got going for the Red Hawks. Starting on the Titans’ 37 after an incomplete pass on a fake punt attempt, Froid/ Lake used a 10-yard pass from Mason Dethman to Ashdyn Hobbs to move to the 27. The Red Hawks then scored when Connor Huft got under a pass from Dethman for a 32-yard touchdown play. Dethman kicked the conversion for an 8-0 lead with 3:27 left in the opening quarter.

The Red Hawks were soon back in scoring position when Ashdyn Hobbs returned a punt 47 yards to the Titans’ 16.

After Dethman hit Huft for a 13-yard gain to the three, Austen Hobbs scored on a run with 1:26 left in the period. Dethman passed to Brett Stentoft on the conversion for a 15-0 lead.

The fourth-ranked Power/ Dutton/Brady team responded by driving inside Red Hawks’ territory, but the threat ended when a fourthdown play failed because of heavy pressure from Austen Hobbs.

After the running ability of Dethman drove the ball to the Titans’ 13, Dethman connected with Javonne Nesbit for a touchdown with 6:14 remaining in the half.

Nesbit then recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff at the 28. Facing a fourth down at the seven, the Red Hawks reached the end zone again on a throw by Dethman to fullback B. Stentoft for a 27-0 lead with 3:40 left in the half.

The Titans got on the scoreboard when Spencer Lehnerz caught an 11-yard touchdown pass with 1:38 left in the half. The Red Hawks responded with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Dethman to Nesbit for a 27-6 advantage at the half.

Ashdyn Hobbs opened the second half by returning the kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown. Dethman passed to Quinn Abar for the conversion and a 34-6 lead.

Less than a minute later, Austen Hobbs intercepted a pass and returned the ball six yards for a touchdown to increase the margin to 40-6.

The Titans tallied the game’s next 10 points on a touchdown and two safeties.

A three-yard run by B. Stentoft put the Red Hawks ahead by a 46-16 margin. Nate Stentoft then scored on a 14-yard dash to put the score at 52-16.

After the Titans scored on a 65-yard pass play from Aidan Reeve to Preston Tyler, the Red Hawks ended the scoring on a 52-yard touchdown run by Max Engelke.

The Red Hawks play at Shields Valley on Saturday, Sept. 18.
