Wolves, Indians Compete At Glendive Meet
The Wolf Point Wolves accounted for 19 points in the girls’ division and six points in the boys’ division in the large Shriners’ track meet held in Glendive on Friday, May 1.
The top girls’ teams were Richey/Lambert with 64 points, Miles City with 58, Billings Central with 45, Lewistown with 40 and Sidney with 37 points.
Topping the boys’ standings were Lewistown with 91, Hardin with 47, Lockwood with 42, Dickinson Trinity, N.D., with 38 and Glasgow with 38.
Adalynn Smith enjoyed a banner day for Wolf Point’s girls. The sophomore ran a personal best time of 1:00.02 in the 400-meter dash to earn first-place honors.
Smith finished third in the 100 at 13.47 seconds and fifth in the 200 at 27.59 seconds.
Anna Matejovsky cleared 9-0 for sixth-place honors in the pole vault.
Wolf Point’s girls’ 400-meter relay team consisting of Navella Weeks, Matejovsky, Harper Weeks and Smith finished in seventh place with a time of 52.9 seconds.
Having personal bests for the Lady Wolves were Smith in the 200 and 400, Maci Fourstar-Sibley in the 200 and javelin, N. Weeks in the 400, Layla Headdress in the 1600, Kenzely Copenhaver in the 1600, Kaleigha Laverdure in the discus, Marley Moran in the discus and Teagan Williams in the pole vault.
Sean Hamilton led Wolf Point’s boys by placing third in the discus with a personal best of 138-0.
Establishing personal bests for Wolf Point’s boys were Kayden Charette in the 100 and triple jump, Tavian Bell in the 200 and 400, Reilly Rees in the 1600, and Damari Martinez in the 110-meter hurdles and high jump, Poplar’s eighth-grader Mila Gramling kept her strong season going by finishing first in the 3200 with a personal best time of 12:14.33.
Also having personal bests for Poplar’s girls were Audrey Swallers in the 400 and 3200, Alara Cooper in the 400, Paige GrayHawk in the 400, Kellyn Azure in the 800, Amelia Weeks in the 800, Gramling in the 1600 and Liberty Boadle in the 100-meter hurdles.
Wilder Bearcub came close to placing in the triple jump with a mark of 38-6 for eighth.
Poplar’s boys with personal bests were Juanito Garfield in the 100, Jayceon Spotted Bird in the 100, Mickey Failing in the 800 and 1600, Dustin Smith in the 800 and 1600, Jayden Eder in the 1600 and 3200, Raylando Red Eagle in the 1600 and 3200, Wilder Bearcub in the 300-meter hurdles and triple jump and Trentin Youpee in the triple jump.
Teams will compete at the Sidney Invitational on Friday, May 8.
