Red Hawks Defeat Poplar’s JVs
Froid/Lake’s girls’ basketball team posted a 40-31 victory over Poplar’s JVs on Thursday, Jan. 22.
The Red Hawks took a 12-8 lead in the first quarter and held a 20-15 half-time advantage.
Froid/Lake outscored Poplar by a 10-8 margin in both the third and fourth quarters.
Isabelle Nordwick accounted for 18 of Froid/Lake’s points.
Also scoring were Laytyn Davidson with eight, Joelle Davidson with seven, Atley Jensen with six and Mira Bakken with one.
In the boys’ game, Poplar’s JVs won by a 66-51 final.
The Indians led by a 3125 half-time margin and increased the gap to 47-38 in the third quarter.
Rylan Young scored 20 points for the Red Hawks and Carson Aasheim added 12 points. Carsen Kelm and Teegan Fossum added eight points each.
Rounding out the scoring were Easton Marottek with two and Jake Nordlund with one point.
Top scorers for Poplar were Xhaiden Bull Chief with 18, Houston Eder with 12 and River Olson with 10 points.
