Wolf Point’s volleyball team capped homecoming week in fine fashion with a four-set win over Plentywood on Saturday, Sept. 27. The Wolves won by a 25-15, 25-11, 21-25, 26-24, final.

Ahead by a 2-1 set margin, the Wolves trailed by a 19-11 score in the fourth set until pulling to 19-13 on a kill by Adalynn Smith. After the Wildcats tallied two points, Wolf Point’s Lauren Rodenberg hit two kills to cut the gap to 21-15.

Wolf Point battled back on Smith’s service to 22-21. Kills by Rodenberg and Anna Matejovsky put the Wolves up 24-22.

Plentywood tied the score at 24-24 on a tip by Lindsey Johnson, but the Wolves earned the last two points including the final point on a block by Ma’Kenzie Jackson.

The Wolves opened the match strongly as the serving of Marley Moran along with the net play of Rodenberg, Smith and McKinlee Paulson led the way to a 10-0 advantage.

Ahead by a 21-12 margin, the Wolves scored three of the next four points on a pair of kills by Rodenberg and a tip by Jackson.

Plentywood fought back with the next three points until Wolf Point won the first set by a 25-15 final.

Aces by Matejovsky and Paulson highlighted action as the Wolves gained an 18-11 lead in the second set. A kill by Jackson increased the gap to 20-11.

The Wolves put the third set away with a spike by Smith, an ace by Matejovsky and a kill by Jackson down the stretch.

The third set was tight as kills by Jackson and Rodenberg kept the Wolves close at 21-19. Plentywood, however, scored the next three points as the Wildcats took a 25-21 win.

The Wolf Point Wolves opened the week with a three-set loss against conference leader Fairview on Thursday, Sept. 25.
