Bulldogs Bring Experience Into New Football Season

Friday night football will soon return to Bainville, and the Bulldogs are heading into the season with plenty of familiar faces on the field.

With only two seniors graduating last year, Bainville returns much of its starting lineup. Keagan Vaira, Haedyn Wills, Rylan Iverson, Holden Salivar, Parker Berwick, Kyn Beery, Evan Anderson, Kaston Hofer and Bridger Chandler are all returning starters.

The Bulldogs’ seven seniors — Vaira, Wills, Salivar, Lane Giese, Iverson, Hofer and Chandler — will be counted on to provide leadership throughout the season.

Berwick returns after earning All-State honors last year. Vaira, Wills, Iverson and Beery also saw considerable playing time, giving Bainville a strong group of experienced players.

Head coach Derik Pierce said the Bulldogs’ size, toughness and depth should serve them well on both sides of the ball. Anderson will take the field at quarterback as the team works to build a new oense.

Strengthening the running game will be one of Bainville’s main goals. The Bulldogs will also continue developing their passing game and working through the finer details of their defense.

Assistant coach Trustin Holcomb brings additional oensive knowledge to the program. Holcom earned all-state honors twice during his own playing career and has returned with experience to share with the team.

The Bulldogs are especially looking forward to meeting Terry in week two and facing a Jordan team that returns four starters.

This season also marks a new chapter for Pierce, who is beginning his first year as Bainville’s varsity head coach. He spent four years coaching junior high football and served as a varsity assistant during the past two seasons.

With a veteran group ready to lead and a new oense taking shape, the Bulldogs are eager to return to the field, represent their school and give the Bainville community plenty to cheer for this fall.
