Cannabis Sales Climbing Up In Roosevelt County

Roosevelt County is seeing cannabis sales going over $700,000 for a month during recent reports from the Montana Department of Revenue.

For the month of June, Roosevelt County had $708,657 in adult use sales and $759,592 in total sales. The total sales figures translates to $25,319 being spent daily on cannabis in the county.

Those figures are consistent for sales during May in the county when adult use sales stood at $719,668 and total sales were at $772,378. During May, an average of $24,915 was spent daily on cannabis in Roosevelt County.

Amounts for April were $696,480 for adult use sales and $748,881 for estimated total county sales.

February was the lone month that total cannabis sales in Roosevelt County were under $700,000. Sales were $643,037 during that month.

Total sales amounts were $708,825 in January and $747,592 in December, 2025.

Sales in the county are much higher than a year ago when figures included $620,479 in September, $625,068 in August and $602,501 in July.

Richland County reported $765,973 in adult use sales and $792,940 for total cannabis sales during June. Figures for other eastern Montana counties included $153,103 for Valley, $78,189 for Sheridan and $593,025 for Dawson.

For the state of Montana, total sales were $27,860,848 during June and $27,706,021 during May.

Counties with the highest total of sales during June included Yellowstone at $4,558,783, Gallatin at $4,192,801, Missoula at $3,252,607 and Flathead at $2,804,575.

Roosevelt County residents voted in favor of establishing 3 percent local option excise taxes for both medical and non-medical marijuana during the primary election in June 2023. Funds from the taxes are split with 50 percent going to the county, 5 percent to the state and the rest divided among the cities in the county. Funds for the county go to law enforcement efforts.
