Theige To Serve As Valedictorian For Class

CoraMay Theige’s hard work has earned her the recognition of being Bainville’s valedictorian for the 2026 class at graduation this May.
“Honestly I wasn’t expecting it,” Theige said, adding that she ranked second in the class as a junior. She has started on her speech and is having family members look it over for advice.
“I’m a little nervous because I’m not the best public speaker, but I’m trying to do more of it to get better,” Theige said.
Her involvement in school has included being in Business Professionals of America for four years, cheer for five years, National Honor Society and track.
Cheer has been one of her favorite activities. She said performing in front of people has definitely helped her improve as a person.
In BPA, she has qualified for the national conference in integrated office applications and administrative support team. She has also earned a statesman torch award.
She is looking forward to attending the national conference in Nashville, Tenn.
“I want to do my best, but if we don’t get on the stage, it will still be super cool,” Theige said, adding that just qualifying for nationals is an honor.
Her hobbies include reading just about any type of book.
Theige’s favorite class is historical literature which included information about World War II this year.
Sarah Morales is her favorite teacher. “She’s very honest with us and makes things fun and interactive,” Theige said.
The senior has attended school in Bainville since the sixth grade.
“I like how everybody knows each other and how we interact,” she said. “Everybody knows some jokes about everybody.”
After high school, she plans to attend North Dakota State University and study psychology. Career paths might include being a counselor or therapist.
“Getting to know people at different levels is very interesting and seeing their thought process is interesting,” Theige said.
