Butikofer Leads On Court
Bainville Senior Profile
Bainville High School senior Lila Butikofer has enjoyed her time helping the Bulldogs earn athletic accomplishments.
Butikofer’s strongest sport was volleyball where she received All-State and All-Conference recognition as a senior. She was an All-Conference selection as a junior.
“That sport to me is the most fun,” Butikofer said of volleyball. “You get to challenge yourself mentally so much.”
As the team’s setter, she certainly played a key role in Bainville’s success that included placing third at last year’s divisional tournament as a junior and advancing to the divisional tournament again as a senior.
“You definitely learn how to communicate,” Butikofer said of being a setter.
She said the biggest highlight of her volleyball career came when the Bulldogs upset Scobey at the divisional tournament in 2024.
Positive memories of her basketball career included winning consecutive District 2C tournament titles. She earned second team All-Conference honors in the sport.
“Our team chemistry was great,” Butikofer said. “We were all having fun on the court. We were in it together.”
The Bulldogs defeated league champion Richey/Lambert in the title game of this year’s district tournament.
“That was a super our team coming together moment,” Butikofer said.
Her favorite event in track and field is the discus.
“It’s really a mental game,” Butikofer said of throwing the discus. “You have to put everything together.”
Her other events include the shot put, javelin, 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.
The senior’s goal is to qualify for the state meet in at least one event.
In addition, Butikofer is the secretary of Bainville’s National Honor Society chapter.
She has been involved in FFA since the seventh grade. Her favorite competition is floriculture. She explains that dedication is one of the things that she has learned being involved in FFA.
Her favorite class is historical literature. Her favorite teacher is Amy Iversen.
Butikofer grew up in Bainville. “I like how close-knit all the classes are,” she said.
After high school, she plans to attend Brigham Young University in Idaho. She’s not certain of her major, but it might be health care or agriculture based.
