Culbertson Students Earn Math Honors
Students from Culbertson Public Schools traveled to Sidney to participate in this year’s regional MCTM math meet on March 10. Students in grades 7-12 competed in the contest.
Students took a multiple choice test, a numerical response test and a team test. Each test is grade specific and divided into 9-10 and 11-12 tests. The scores of the multiple choice and numerical response tests are combined and students are awarded a “Gold” rating for scoring in the top 10 percent, a “Silver” rating for the next 10 percent and a “Bronze” rating for the next 10 percent.
The top student in each grade was also given recognition with a medal at the regional level.
Tyler Schmidt received a bronze award at the 9-10 level. Felixe Becker received a gold award at the 9-10 level. He also took second place at the 10th grade level, missing top sophomore by only two points. Cal Steppler also placed in the contest and received a bronze award at the 11-12 level.
