Bainville High School senior Siena Martinez has become a positive member of the school since transferring to Bainville in the sixth grade.

Martinez says she likes Bainville because it’s a tight-knit community.

She played volleyball for the Bulldogs for four seasons and was a strong contributer in her role as a defensive specialist.

“I like that we are like a family,” Martinez said of being a member of the volleyball team.

Her playing time continued to increase each season throughout high school. “It was really fun,” she added.

A highlight was qualifying for the divisional tournament as a senior.

Her advice for younger players is to put in as much work as possible in the off season in order to achieve their goals.

Martinez joined the basketball program in her senior year. Why did she make that decision? “Just for fun,” she said. “It was something new to try out.”

She enjoyed the experience of playing basketball. A highlight was the Bulldogs winning the district championship.

During weekends, she works for the MonDak Animal Shelter in Williston, N.D. She has worked there for the past three years.

“I like to be around animals and help them out,” she explained.

Her favorite animals are dogs. She has three dogs of her own that she makes sure are spoiled.

After high school, Martinez plans to attend Northern Arizona University and study to be a dental hygienist.

“My mom did it and said she liked it a lot,” Martinez said of going into that field.
