Two Charged With Attempted Murder In Poplar Shooting
Two suspects are being charged with attempted murder regarding a shooting that occurred in Poplar on Wednesday, April 1, at approximately 8 p.m.
According to the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice, three adults were involved in a minor altercation at TJ’s Quik Stop. The two suspects left in a vehicle and the victim walked away from the scene.
A short time later, an adult male allegedly shot the victim with a high powered rifle. The victim was struck in the shoulder.
The two suspects left the scene and went to a residence in Poplar. Law enforcement located and arrested the suspects.
The victim was taken to the Poplar hospital and then flown to a larger facility. It was reported that he was in stable condition as of presstime.
Chanelle Red Dog, 26, and Tanner Montclair, 27, were charged with attempted murder in tribal court. Federal authorities are conducting an ongoing investigation.
The Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice served as the primary investigators in the case. The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
