Local Meeting Held To Discuss Potential Pipeline

A meeting to discuss the proposed Bridger Pipeline attracted about 50 individuals in Bainville earlier this month.

“The meeting went really well,” Fallon County Commissioner Kevin Braun, a member of the PRO-Montana group, said.

Braun explained that the goal of the meeting was to address how landowners can work and negotiate with pipeline officials.

“I didn’t hear much negatively,” Braun said of feedback from landowners.

Pro-Montana seeks to put landowners in the best position regarding easements and to receive the best possible payment.

The proposed 36” pipeline will be 645 miles long from Montana to Wyoming. It is anticipated to provide 550,000 barrels of Canadian oil daily.

Bridger Pipeline of Casper, Wyo., filed its plans with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality in February.

The proposed pipeline’s route will start north of Malta, run above the Fort Peck Indian Reservation and then head south along the Montana-North Dakota border until ending in Guernsey, Wyo.

If Bridger receives the required regulatory approvals, the plan is for construction to begin in July 2027.
