Cowboys Come Up Short Against Savage

 

After an outstanding start, Culbertson’s boys’ basketball team lost against Savage, 5833, in the semi-final round of the District 2C tournament.

Brooks Solem accounted for eight straight points to give the Cowboys an early 10-4 lead.

With the score at 10-7, Ian Snyder tallied the next three points including a dunk for a 13-7 margin.

The Warriors battled back with the last five points of the quarter on a basket by Boden Jorgensen and a three-pointer by Adden Erickson to pull to 13-12.

The scoring of Jorgensen led Savage to a 20-15 advantage in the second quarter. Savage held a 23-20 half-time advantage.

Savage opened the third quarter with the next seven points on baskets by Braxton Shaw and Jaxcen Sanders and then a three-pointer by Erickson.

Solem took control offensively to cut the margin to 32-27, but Savage responded with a three-pointer by Jaeger Tombre and a 16-footer by Jorgensen for a 10-point lead.

Another three-pointer by Tombre helped Savage take a 42-31 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

Savage struck for the first five points of the fourth quarter on a three-point play by Erickson and an inside shot by Tombre for a 47-31 lead.

Solem led the Cowboys with 28 points while I. Snyder added five points.

Leading Savage were Jorgensen with 17 and Erickson with 14 points.
