Indians Lose To Fairview
Poplar’s football team opened its season with a 64-0 home loss against defending state champion Fairview on Thursday, Sept. 4.

After a bad snap to the punter resulted in a safety to put the Warriors up 16-0, Fairview scored again on a 40-yard dash by Skogas.
The Indians marched to midfield on a nice pass play from Chasen Pribbernow to Anthony Youngman, but the drive ended when Poplar came up short on a fourthand-one attempt. Troy Karst broke loose for a 46-yard run to put the Warriors up 32-0 late in the first quarter.
Fairview’s first score of the second quarter came on a long pass play from Skogas to Wyatt Lunstad. A 55-yard dash by Jake Schlothauer increased the gap to 48-0.
In the third quarter, Fairview intercepted a pass and went on to score on a 36-yard run by Bryson Fox.
The Indians used a nice pass completion from Pribbernow to Houston Eder to drive deep inside Fairview territory, but the Warriors then intercepted a pass.
Fairview’s final touchdown came on a throw from Skogas to Karst with four minutes remaining.
The Indians will travel to Culbertson on Friday, Sept. 12.
In junior high action, Poplar won by a 58-8 final.
