County Cupboard May Close In April

Ashlee Anderson told the

Community News that funds are running short at the County Cupboard in Culbertson.

“April 11 and 25 are our next distribution days,” Anderson said. “That might be it,” Anderson said the Cupboard account has approximately $3,500 in it currently. Not nearly enough to continue past April.

“We have really good volunteers,” said Anderson. “We need money.”

Anderson said a recent shopping trip to restock four items set the group back over $2,000. “Now we need to buy a side of beef,” Anderson said.

Much of the beef thus far has been donated. Matching grants and private donations have carried the organization through so far, but more funds are needed. The last March donation day saw 40 plus grocery bags handed out to local residents from Culbertson, Fort Kipp, Brockton and other communities in the area. That was a light day by comparison. “The last time,” said Shelley Baldwin, “we gave out 55 bags.” Two dates in January and February saw over 100 bags distributed to people struggling with grocery bills.

The Cupboard is a non-profit organization focused on ending hunger in Roosevelt County. It has a bulletproof volunteer board of vested community members. For more information, call 406-787-5374, write to ashleema3119@gmail.com or visit the group’s Facebook page.

Food distributions are held at the County Complex in Culbertson on Broadway Ave. The next dates are April 11 and 25.
