Red Hawks Stop Savage, 42-0
The Froid/Lake Red Hawks clinched the conference championship with a 42-0 home victory over Savage during six-man football action on Saturday, Oct. 16.
The Red Hawks opened the game with an on-sides kick that was recovered by Mason Dethman. Froid/Lake then scored when Dethman hit Ashdyn Hobbs with a swing pass and the senior went the distance for a 39yard score.
After a fourth-down tackle by Connor Huft ended a threat by the Warriors, Dethman broke loose for a 27-yard run to the Savage 22. The Red Hawks then marched down to the three on runs by Dethman and Ashdyn Hobbs. Brett Stentoft scored on a three-yard smash with 3:19 left in the first quarter. Dethman kicked the conversion for a 14-0 lead.
The Red Hawks scored quickly in the second quarter when Dethman and Javonne Nesbit connected on a 27yard touchdown pass. Dethman’s kick put the margin at 22-0.
A fourth-down tackle for loss by Quinn Abar gave Froid/Lake possession at the Savage 11. Two plays later, Ashdyn Hobbs reached the end zone on a six-yard run for a 28-0 advantage.
B. Stentoft scored on a three-yard run with 35 seconds remaining in the half for a 34-0 lead.
A 34-yard pass play from Dethman to Nesbit put the Red Hawks in scoring position to open the third quarter. A 13-yard dash by Ashdyn Hobbs produced the team’s sixth touchdown with 8:54 left in the period. Dethman kicked the conversion for a 42-0 lead.
The Red Hawks will end their regular season at Bainville on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
