Memories Shared During Froid’s All Class Reunion Memories Shared During Froid’s All Class Reunion

When class reunions happen, memories start flowing regarding warm thoughts from years ago.

During Froid High School’s 100th anniversary class reunion, two individuals with many years of memories were Katy Waters, 97, and Irene Davidson, 87.

Waters, while touring the school on Saturday, Aug. 7, has fond recollections about attending the school. She graduated with the class of 1942, was one of about 17 graduates.

“I liked it all,” Waters said of her school days. She was impressed with how “nice and clean” the school is in Froid.

During her days in school, she served as majorette for the school’s band.

With a farm about three miles outside of town, Waters saw six children graduate from Froid. There have also been six grandchildren who graduated from the school.

“If you’ve always lived here, it’s your favorite thing,” Waters said of the area.

Waters now lives at the Montana Pioneer Manor in Plentywood. She doesn’t have any particular secrets of living a high age.

“I don’t know. I have a healthy body,” Waters said. “I lasted long enough to come here anyway.”

Davidson said her favorite memories included time on the playground and acting in class plays such as “Cheaper By the Dozen.”

Davidson noted, “School was pretty easy for me. I liked math, typing and spelling. I wasn’t interested in geography and that kind of stuff.” Davidson, who now lives in Minnesota, said the highlight of the reunion for her was seeing old friends and family members.

One of her daughters is Sheri Crain, the mayor of Froid. Davidson said she wasn’t surprised about her daughter taking on that responsibility.

“It didn’t shock me at all,” Davidson said.
