Violet Lucille Johnson, 91, of Glasgow, formerly of Fort Peck, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. Services are currently pending under the direction of Bell Mortuary in Glasgow.

Ethel Lillian Wiens, 94, wife of Frank C. Wiens, died June 5, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Home in Mountain Lake, Minn. She was born April 25, 1931, in Lustre to Dietrich M. and Kathrine (Franz) Olfert at her parent’s homestead. She finished country grade school and attended Lustre Bible School. She then attended high school at Lustre Academy and graduated from Salem Academy. She later attended and graduated from Grace Bible Institute. She was a student of Scripture, writing many acrostic studies using Bible verses. She underlined her Bible in assorted colors to outline subjects like “What God said”, “What do I need to do about it”, “God’s Promises”, etc. She wrote greeting cards using the person’s name with an acrostic of each letter of their first name accompanied by a Bible verse or phrase with that letter. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and committed her life to the Lord at a revival meeting, was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church. After her marriage, she became a member of the various churches where she and her husband served. On June 17, 1952, she married Frank C. Wiens, her high school sweetheart whom she met at Lustre Bible Academy. To this union, four children were born: Judith Perez (Quito, Ecuador), James Wiens (Volgograd, Russia), Dr. Glenn Wiens (Grand Forks, N.D.) and Gary Wiens. Willa Frances Buck Gray-Hawk, Nakoda name 'Gives the Blanket', 61, died June 17, 2025. She was born to William and Florence McConnell Buck on July 13, 1964, in Wolf Point at Trinity Hospital. She lived with Jesus in her heart. She had a large family, even though she was raised with one brother, W. George Buck. To her, family was everything and her grandchildren were her greatest achievement. She was a notary for the State of Montana for quite some time and worked for the Fort Peck Tribes since she was 15 years old on the CETA program, also in various programs with the FPT. She was currently working at SBRRC as their fiscal financial specialist, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She obtained her MBA through the University of Mary, Bismarck, N.D., and her bachelor’s degree at Rocky Mountain College in Billings. She attended and graduated from Frazer High School. She liked sewing; reading true crime books; crossword puzzles; cruising around up north with her husband, Tote; and plants. She lived in the Los Angeles, Calif., area for a while with her parents while they went on a placement program the BIA had offered them. She moved back to Frazer with her mother and brother and stayed there until her death.
