Poplar Enjoys Good Turnout For Wrestling Program
With a turnout of 24 wrestlers, the Poplar Indians should field a solid squad this wrestling season.
“It’s a good turnout for us,” Poplar Coach Jason Frederick said.
The Indians return two standouts who placed at the Class B state meet last season. Jase Frederick earned fourth at 113 pounds and Jacob Berger took fourth at 205 pounds. Berger will wrestle at heavyweight this season.
Poplar’s Boys Return Solid Group Of Basketball Players
With six returning players who saw a good deal of court time last season, Poplar’s boys basketball team should be a strong threat in District 2B this season.
The top returning players include Wilfred Lambert, Kayden Lambert, Inyan Growing Thunder, Isaiah Gray Bear, Preston Ogle and Dennis Red Eagle.

Poplar’s Girls Aim For Improvements
The Poplar girls’ basketball squad appears to be on the right track for having a very good season.
Teri Christian has returned to serve as the program’s head coach. She has been involved for the squad the previous four years. Prior to that, she coached for four years and then took an eight-year break.

Lustre’s Boys Bring Three Starters Back From Last Season
After winning a game at the divisional tournament last season, the Lustre Christian Lions are shooting for another strong boys’ basketball season this time around.
The Lions are enjoying a great turnout with 17 players out for the sport.
“It’s probably as many as we have in the past 20 years or more,” Coach Randy Reddig said of the turnout.

The Lustre Christian girls’ basketball team enters the season with a new coach and seven players excited about the campaign.
Bill Reddig is the program’s new head coach.
“So far, I like it,” Reddig said of the duties.
One challenge though is with only seven girls in the program, practices can be difficult. Some days, Reddig has younger boys to come in and scrimmage. The program
