Dorothy Traeholt passed away on Sept. 28, 2023, in Billings, Mont., at the age of 91. Dorothy was the sixth of seven children born to Irl and Caroline “Carrie” Cosby in Spokane, Wash., on Jan. 21, 1932. She graduated top of her class at North Central in Spokane in 1950. While working in Spokane. she met and married Arne Traeholt. Soon after, they moved to Whitefish, Mont., where they started a business and started a family. In 1954, they moved to Wolf Point. The vast, treeless prairie of eastern Montana was such a stark contrast to the lush, garden-like state in which she grew up that she made Arne promise he would not bury her there! But it didn’t take Dorothy long to fall in love with the people and the area of Wolf Point! They would live there for 58 years. Dorothy was active in her church, teaching Sunday school and leading women’s Bible studies. She was a volunteer at Frontier Elementary School and Friends of the Library. She bowled and golfed on women’s leagues, and, when her children were all in school, she went to work for Arne’s accounting practice. After she received a sewing machine from her father- in-law, Dorothy wasted no time in mastering the machine and honing her designing skills. Besides school clothes, she made prom dresses and cheerleading and twirling uniforms for her four daughters. Not one to sit idly, Dorothy spent quiet hours crocheting, embroidering and doing other needlework. Dorothy’s sharp wit and cleaver way with words was known to many in the poems she wrote for friends and family, commemorating special — and not-so-special (toilet paper shortage) — occasions. When she moved to The Springs Assisted Living in Billings, her writing talent was kept active recording the events and staff at her new home. The faculty even collected several of her poems and had them published. Her mind was kept keen by crossword and jigsaw puzzles and she remained clear-minded until the very end. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Arne; her son, Alan; her parents; and siblings. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen Traeholt of Bismarck, N.D.; daughter, Kay (Robert) Snyder of Burnett, Texas; daughter, Karen (Gary) Jeide of Wolf Point; daughter, Kim (Tim) Klasna of Lambert; daughter, Karla Traeholt (Robin Martinez) of Billings; 11 wonderful grandchildren; and 15 perfect great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 6, at First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point. (Paid Obituary)

Beulah Louise Siljenberg, 85, died Sept. 29, 2023. She was born Nov. 29, 1937, to Mitchell and Amy (Paulson) Granbois, the first born of this union. She was later joined by brothers Larry (Buskie) and Gene Granbois. Later in Mitchell’s second union to Leona (LeMay), Doug, Gary, Dennis, Darrell and Doreen joined the family. She attended schools in Pierre, S.D., and Poplar Schools, where she was active in cheerleading. She married Larry Siljenberg on June 16, 1956, at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow. The couple made their home at Buzzard’s Glory. Upon entering the U.S. Army, Larry was joined by Beulah living off base at Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Leonardwood, Mo. Upon discharge, the couple returned to the farm 37 miles north of Wolf Point in the Benrud community, where they welcomed their son, Kelly. The family moved to Saco where she was employed at many jobs, including Sleeping Buffalo and O’Brien’s Café, then was a housewife and mother. Upon returning to Wolf Point, she was employed with Nancy’s Housekeeping at IHS Clinic in Poplar. Throughout her retirement years, she enjoyed gardening, canning, jigsaw puzzles, rodeos and western movies and Molly B’s Polka Party and old country and bluegrass music. Most of all, she enjoyed her many pets. She is survived by her husband, Larry of Wolf Point; son, Kelly of Wolf Point; sister, Doreen; brother, Doug; three grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wolf Point. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point.

Cody J. Baum, 30, of Poplar, formerly of Muskegon, Mich., died Oct. 1, 2023. Cody’s beautiful brown eyes and infectious smile could light up even the darkest of rooms. Cody left this world unexpectedly and far too soon. In his final message, he asked that I remind each and every one of you how much he loved you and how grateful and blessed he felt to have you in his life. Cody is survived by parents, Amysue (Jeffrey) Hunter of Poplar, Mont., and Kevin (Angela) Baum of Shelby, Mich.; brother, Curtis Baum of Shelby, Mich.; grandparents, Sharon (Ron) Groteler of Muskegon, Mich., Dennis (Karen) Winters of Scottville, Mich., Kenneth and Jeanne Baum of Muskegon, Mich., Jim Luttrell of Baldwin, Mich.; uncles and aunts, Kenneth and Juliann Baum of Mears, Mich., Adam Winters of Muskegon, Mich., Kyle Luttrell of Pennsylvania; Kayla Luttrell of Pennsylvania; niece and nephew, Zailyn Ann and Bentley Jorden both of Muskegon, Mich.; cousins; several extended and step family; and many, many friends in Montana and Michigan. Codderz, you were my partner in adventure and mischief. My best friend and Mama’s boy. I have loved you from your first heartbeat and will love you until my last. Until we meet again, my Cody. Sarah Young, age seven months, infant daughter of Conrad Young Jr. and Misty Strikes Many, died Sept. 20, 2023, in Billings. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment was at Chelsea Cemetery.
