A Wolf Point native who rose to the position of Montana’s governor has died. Ted Schwinden died on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the age of 98. Schwinden was born and raised on a farm north of Wolf Point. With the belief that the move will benefit county property taxpayers, the Roosevelt County Commissioners agreed on Tuesday, Oct. 3, to provide the state with 77.89 mills rather than the traditional 95 mills for public education. The resolution notes that the commissioners have determined that the correct number of mills to be levied for fiscal year 2024 for the state equalization aid is 32.90

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 72 calls of service from Oct. 3-8. The calls included: October 3 Deputies responded north of Wolf Point on swimming pool road to a report of someone stealing hay. The incident turned out to be a misunderstanding. A deputy/coroner went to Trinity Hospital to report on an attended/expected death. Deputies assisted tribal police on a burglary
