4-H Honors Hackley, Hometown Market For Contributions

The Roosevelt County 4-H Council added an individual and a business to its wall of fame on Friday, Aug. 12. Angi Iverson announced the selections of Carol Hackley and Hometown Market prior to the livestock sale at the Roosevelt County Fair. Hackey of rural Poplar has been active in Roosevelt County 4-H for 23 years including being a charter member of the Missouri River Rats 4-H Club.

Parade Of Animals During Fair Highlights Day For Senior Citizens

The residents of Roosevelt Memorial’s nursing home got a great viewing treat on Friday afternoon, Aug. 12. Supervised by Extension staff members, youth took their livestock on a short journey from the fairgrounds to the nursing home for a Parade of Animals. “It doesn’t take long and it makes their day,” Roosevelt County Extension agent Ardis Oelkers said of the senior residents.

County Adds To Cattle Guard Resolution

By Bill Vander Weele Roosevelt County commissioners approved an addition to the county’s cattle guard resolution, which was originally approved in February. The resolution noted that if maintenance is required on cattle guards, Roosevelt County will complete the repairs and bill the beneficiary of the cattle guard, landowner or permittee. A fee, however, was listed in the resolution.

Roosevelt County ranks sixth with 8,433 of its 11,091 residents born in Montana. That’s a rate of 76 percent.
