The Poplar Indians earned 10 points in the boys’ division and eight points in the girls’ division during the Northern B divisional track meet held in Glasgow on Friday and Saturday, May 17-18. The highlight for the Indians was Adrien Matuck capturing first place in the long jump. The senior took first with a mark of 19-4. Two Poplar girls qualified for the Class B state meet as well.

Led by divisional championship performances by Peyton Summers and Charles Page, the Wolf Point Wolves came away with the thirdplace trophy from the Northern B track meet held in Glasgow Friday and Saturday. Wolf Point earned 67 points for third place in the boys’ standings at the District 2B track meet held in Wolf Point on Saturday, May 11. Glasgow won the boys’ title with 212 points. Fairview took second with 116 points. Malta was fourth with 66 points. The Lady Wolves placed fifth with 24 points. The top three teams were Glasgow with 219 points, Fairview with 116 and Malta with 107 points.

Wolf Point native Tori Nygard has been selected Dickinson State University’s co-female senior athlete of the year. She broke the school record in the hammer throw last year and placed 14th at the NAIA national meet. Nygard is ranked top 10 in her career in Dickinson for the javelin, hammer throw and weight throw.
