With six returning players who saw a good deal of court time last season, Poplar’s boys basketball team should be a strong threat in District 2B this season. The top returning players include Wilfred Lambert, Kayden Lambert, Inyan Growing Thunder, Isaiah Gray Bear, Preston Ogle and Dennis Red Eagle. “I think they all started at some point last season,” Poplar coach Frank Gourneau said.

The Wolf Point High School’s wrestling program started practice on Monday, Dec. 7, with an impressive turnout of 11 wrestlers. Under the guidance of a new head coach, the Wolf Point girls’ basketball team looks for a strong season this school year. The Wolves began practice on Monday, Dec. 7, under the direction of coach Jon Kolstad. He was born and raised in Wolf Point and now lives in Glasgow. Kolstad’s career includes about 20 years coaching basketball and baseball. He coached at the high school level in Glasgow.

The Wolf Point boys’ basketball team enters the campaign with the goal of repeating as district champions. Practice began Monday, Dec. 7. Wolf Point has a strong recent past with the 2020 district title and coming a buzzer shot away from winning the 2019 district championship. “We’re looking to repeat,” Wolf Point coach Troy Blount said. “We have some young, hustling players.”
