Wrestlers from Wolf Point and Poplar competed well during the Cowboy/Cowgirl Invitational held in Miles City. In the girls’ team standings, Poplar placed 11th with 70 points. Wolf Point was 25th with 24 points. Wolf Point’s Cali Gorder earned second place at 100 pounds. She was pinned in the title match by a wrestler from Billings Central. The Wolf Point Wolves dropped both District 2B basketball games in Malta on Saturday, Jan. 17. In the girls’ game, Wolf Point lost by a 71-34 margin. The scoring of Maci Fourstar helped the Wolves stay close in the first half. Wolf Point trailed 17-9 at the end of the first quarter and 32-25 at intermission. Malta accounted for 25 points in the third quarter to grab a 57-30 advantage.

The Poplar Indians swept conference basketball games in Plentywood on Saturday, Jan. 17. In the boys’ game, the Indians earned a 64-59 victory. Poplar held only a 42-41 lead after three quarters of play before striking for 22 points in the fourth period.
