The Wolf Point School board received petitions signed by adult and students in support of boys’ basketball coach Troy Blount during its meeting on Monday, May 9.
Frank Benson, who is Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball coach and has a son on the boys’ team, presented the petition signed by more than 100 adults during the public comment portion of the meeting.

Roxanne Gourneau will represent District 2 on the Wolf Point School board for the next year.
In District 2, Jaronn Boysun and Roxanne Gourneau tied with 36 votes each during the May 3 election.
Incumbent Linda L. Hansen received 24 votes.
A recount board on Monday, May 9, determined the same results with Boysun and Gourneau tying with 36 votes each.

Wolf Point native Tori Nygard placed sixth at last week’s Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference track championship meet with a throw of 39.48 meters in the javelin.
She is a sophomore at Minot State University.
Nygard is a 2020 graduate of Wolf Point High School. During her career in Wolf Point, she placed seventh in the discus and 10th in the javelin during her junior season.

The Montana High School Association executive board has announced the selection of Brian Michelotti as the next MHSA executive director.
Michelotti will replace Mark Beckman, current executive director, who will retire on June 30, after 25 years of service with the organization. Michelotti will be the fifth executive director in the history of the organization.

The team of Kaylee Johnson and Kaleah Miller-Toves earned second place during the divisional tournament in Miles City last weekend.
