Frontier Days in Culbertson is set to begin Friday, June 11. Culbertson Saddle Club volunteers have built a new fence along the highway and spruced up the rodeo grounds in anticipation of the two-day event. Street dances are planned for Friday at the Montana Bar and Saturday at the Saddle Club, where a full bar will be available after the rodeo. Concessions are available on the grounds. No carry-in

School election results were canvassed during the Culbertson School Board meeting on Tuesday, May 18. The top two vote getters for the three-year terms were Mark Colvin with 187 votes and Paul Finnicum with 156 votes. Gretchen Wagner had 152 votes. Ian Walker received 74 for the single one-year term while Shadd Cullinan was right behind with 73 votes. The board re-elected Finnicum as chair. Colvin

After Wolf Point resident Bill Juve expressed his disagreement about the county stipends again during the public comment portion of the commissioners’ meeting on Tuesday, June 1, Commissioner Gordon Oelkers explained some of the reasoning for spending CARES funds in that fashion. Juve asked if giving the stipends to only county employees was discrimination against other county taxpayers.

The Bainville Town Council has rescheduled a budget workshop meeting previously set for June 7. The date for the next meeting is pending. The full council meeting is set for Monday, June 14. A motorcycle ride to raise awareness for suicide prevention has been planned by Yellowstone American Legion Riders, Dog Tag Buddies and Tenacious Dames Riding Club. The Ride for Tomorrow will take place June 19 and encompasses both an official Iron Butt ride (1,000 miles in 24 hours) and various summer solstice routes.
