A process has been determined to break a possible tie in the Roosevelt County commissioners’ election. The commissioners will hold a meeting on Monday, June 20, to canvass the votes. Unofficial primary election results included Robert D. Toavs with 188 votes, Edward L. Bach and Ken E. Hentges each received 86 votes. Craig Karge had 70 votes. By Bill Vander Weele Roosevelt County residents voted in favor of establishing local option excise taxes for both medical and non-medical marijuana during the primary election on Tuesday, June 7. Adding a 3 percent special local option tax on non-medical marijuana sold in the county passed by a margin of 1,161 to 363. The option tax for medical marijuana was approved by a 941 to 579 margin.

The bid for congregate meals in Poplar from the Buckhorn Cafe increased from $9 to $10. Bids for home delivered meals also increased in the county. Roosevelt County currently has seven active COVID cases. There have been 3,306 total cases in the county. Adult COVID vaccination clinics are scheduled from 3-5 p.m. on June 16 in Wolf Point and June 23 in Culbertson. County health officials encourage all residents aged 5 and up to be vaccinated and those over 16 should consider getting booster doses. Immunizations are by appointment only.
