Gov. Greg Gianforte and his wife, Susan, were on hand at Dry Prairie in Culbertson Oct. 9 to present Culbertson’s Clint Jacobs with a 2023 Montana Governor’s Veteran Commendation. FWP Electrofishing Salmon For Egg, Milt Collection


Oct. 4 was the first day of electrofishing efforts by Montana FWP fisheries and hatchery staff. There are definitely Chinook salmon present in some of the bays, but spawning activity is not quite fully underway. The official salmon snagging (and, new this year, bowfishing), season started Oct. 1. Water surface temperatures are still relatively warm as it relates to salmon spawning activity.

Summers Receives National Recognition


Wolf Point native Sierra Summers has received national attention for her cross country efforts at Dawson Community College. Summers, a freshman, has been selected as the M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week in cross country.
