Two recent Roosevelt County high school graduates are the recipients of this year’s Montana Association of Counties’ scholarships.

MACo president Gordon Oelkers announces that the scholarship winners are Addison Hansen of Bainville High School and Ayden Ator of Culbertson High School.

“Their hard work, dedication and commitment to academic excellence have distinguished them among an impressive group of applicants from across the state,” Oelkers said.

He explained that the Montana Association of Counties is proud to invest in the future of the state’s young people by supporting students who plan to continue their education within Montana’s higher education system.

“These scholarships reflect MACo’s commitment to developing future leaders who will strengthen our communities and contribute to the continued success of our state,” Oelkers said.

He added, “It is especially rewarding to see two deserving students from Roosevelt County receive this recognition. Addison and Ayden have demonstrated the character, perseverance and leadership that will serve them well as they pursue their educational and career goals.”

Ator’s list of involvement in high school included Explore America, Business Professionals of America, FFA, National Honor Society and Student Council. She served as president of student council and secretary for FFA. She was a starter in volleyball and basketball.

Ator was co-valedictorian for Culbertson’s Class of 2026. Ator plans to major in special education when she attends Montana State University in Billings.

Along with being a three-sport athlete, Bainville’s Hansen was also active in Business Professionals of America, FFA, National Honor Society, student council and journalism. Her individual sports accomplishments have included placing fifth at the state track meet in the discus both as a junior and a senior, and earning All-Conference second team honors in basketball.

Hansen was one of four winners of the Big Sky State Games Character Counts Scholarships in the entire state. The scholarships recognizes the importance of sportsmanship and character in athletics. She plans to attend Montana State University in Bozeman to study psychology.
